In our 60 years of operation, we’ve remained true to our initial mission with local leadership that have kept us financially stable as we grow our community. We were the only “high-rise” building with an elevator at the time! Charles Beals, as the first Executive Director, led the way, ensuring that our doors opened in 1961. It all started for us in the 1950’s when a group of Friends expressed the desire to provide person-centered, affordable care to seniors within the community.
With our Quaker heritage, Friendsview has continued this tradition as a not-for-profit Life Plan Community that values dignity, compassion, and excellence. Quakers (also known as Friends) are often credited with opening the very first continuing care residential community (CCRC) over 100 years ago.
